  1. This is Steve Sanders. It is 3-17-18 and my wife and I are celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary. We were swapping stories about growing up and enjoying a chill Saturday day. The subject of haunting houses came up and I began telling her how I lived on the north end of Athens across from a cemetery. I had a Rottweiler made Mia and I would her roam through the grounds at night. That was on Columbia in Simms. My 2 close friends at the time lived at the first house on the right on 2nd St. The house was the old Morgue house complete with storm cellar doors leading to the basement that had two stone/cement embalming pits. My buddies Toth and Poulin swore up and down they would see spirirts. I thought they were full of crap until one night I was alone in the house and out of the corner of my eye, something casually walked in the back hallway of the house. The house was empty and I was waiting for my buddies at get to the house after an after hours party.

Telling her the story reminded me of The Ridges and I told her I bet I can google Athens and websites would have other stories of my beloved party college town. So since am here at this site, I might as well share the memory.

    God Bless

Sorry I wrote this pretty sloppy.

I had a Rottweiler named Mia and I would let her roam

The cemetery across 2nd is Zion in the map above or State St. cemetery.
